Activities

Friends activities have included fundraising for the purchase of new books and library equipment, sponsoring special events, and volunteering to assist with other library events. Racks of surplus library books for sale are available in the library during normal business hours and all proceeds go to the Friends. Major activities and events will be listed below as they are scheduled.


2009 Friends Calendar

The Friends group is sponsoring monthly get-togethers to sort, archive and display historical items stored at the library. The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 26, 1:00 - 3:00 PM. For more information or to confirm attendance, please contact Cecelia Hanson, library director, during open library hours (Tues, Weds, and Thurs, 2:00 - 6:00 PM). 2008

Book sales/fundraisers 2008: March (an all-month Spring Cleaning book & media sale); May 30 & 31 (the second annual Roy Rodeo crafts & books sale, Community Center -- See pictures and details below.); June (another all-month Summer Vacation sale); and September (all-month Back-To-School sale). Book sales and fundraisers have been a great success -- thank you Friends and other supporters of the Roy Library!


2008 Library Open House, Dec. 5th

& KickOff of the 2009 Friends' Membership Campaign

Again, a huge crowd attended this annual event co-sponsored by the Friends. This year, open house featured the Roy Community Choir and the Roy Elementary Band. Thank you everyone for participating and attending!


Thank you, vendors, craftspeople, buyers, and helpers for making this another successful event!


2007

Used books were sold in the Community Center for the entire month of December. Thank you to those who participated! We made some money and helped free up space in the library storage areas!


Thanks to everyone who participated in this great annual event! The Library/Community Center was packed to the rafters with people. Below are some pictures of the evening.


Saturday, June 2 - Roy Rodeo Used Book & Bake Sale at the Roy Grange Hall. It was a huge success. Special thanks to everyone who donated baked goods and their time to help out!

Thank you to all the arts & crafts vendors who rented tables and donated items for the raffle.

March 20 - 23: Library's 10th Birthday -- Anniversary of the new building's grand opening on March 21, 1997. Open house all week, March 19 - 23, during normal business hours. Special birthday party with refreshments was held on Wednesday evening, March 21. Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a fun success!
